ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three soldiers and a civilian were injured in a grenade explosion at the headquarters of the 18th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Campo Uno, Lamitan City, Basilan province on Wednesday evening, Aug. 6.
Injured were Private Chico D. Obillo, 28; Private Armando M. Patinio III; Corporal Generalao Olado Jr., and Elmer Andrade Tolosa, 43.
The suspects who remain unidentified reportedly arrived on a motorcycle and threw the grenade while the victims were on duty.
Shrapnel struck the victims who were promptly transported to the Lamitan District Hospital via military ambulance.
Authorities have processed the crime scene and conducted a post-blast investigation.
Lawmen have initiated dragnet operations to apprehend the suspects.
