CEBU CITY – More than 15,000 residents will benefit from a medical mission in the third district of Cebu.
Spearheaded by Rep. Karen Garcia and her husband, former Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, the “Padayon Jud ang Kahimsug” medical mission will start on Aug. 8 in Barili, followed by Aloguinsan (Aug. 12), Pinamungajan (Aug. 15), Toledo City (Aug. 19, 20, 21, and 23), Balamban (Aug. 25), Asturias (Aug. 28 and 29), and Tuburan (Sept. 4 and 5).
Three months-worth of maintenance medicines, free laboratory tests that offer results within minutes, and other essential health services will be available during the series of medical missions.
“For years, PJ has been leading medical missions but this time we are making it bigger, and more innovative in terms of the services delivered,” said Rep. Garcia.
Medical professionals from 1Life Community Healthcare Management System will conduct free medical consultations and free laboratory tests in Toledo, Barili, Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan.
The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation presidents of the seven local government units play a vital role in spreading the good news about the medical mission within their communities.
Aside from the three months-worth of maintenance medicines, patients will also be given other medicines for free depending on the results of their laboratory tests. X-ray, ECG, urinalysis, and fetal Doppler for pregnant women will be available on top of blood chemistry and doctor’s consultation.
“They will not be going home with only prescriptions but medicines they need,” added Rep. Garcia.
She said those who are not members of PhilHealth yet may fill up forms during the medical mission where membership to the State health insurer will be facilitated.
