Beyond being the president of a beloved retail brand, Puregold Price Club Inc.’s Vincent Co has also been a heartfelt patron of our nation’s education.
Vincent has been providing support to far-flung schools, that typically don’t receive aid. Among Vincent’s contributions to local schools has been the construction of additional facilities, installation of solar energy, sharing groceries to students and providing start-up tindahan goods to schools, to provide them with the essentials they need.
Vincent’s advocacy for education has come to the fore yet again with Puregold’s “Pusong Panalo” project which recently provided support to a school on Talim Island, in the end of Laguna de Bay in Binangonan, Rizal.
There, Puregold provided Talim Elementary School and Banaba Barrio School with solar lights, kids’ playground, and other donations for teachers and students. According to the school head of Talim Elementary School, “Sa bayan, marami ilang out-of-school youth.
One of the biggest challenges faced by schools on the island is the regular loss of electricity, especially during the monsoon season. “Malaking problema sa amin kapag binabagyo at walang kuryente,” said the school head.
The students from these schools expressed their joy and gratitude for the support sent.
According to teachers from Talim Elementary School, donations and aid of this magnitude are a rarity for them.
During the “Pusong Panalo” donation program at the schools, Puregold’s senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Pieded spoke to the faculty and students in attendance. “Thank you for allowing Puregold to reach out and help the community, the students and families here,” said Hayagan-Piedad. She also encouraged the students in attendance to keep working hard to chase their dreams and grow into good people.
Under Vincent Co’s leadership, Puregold continues to back their “Always Panalo” advocacy for education. To Vincent and his team at Puregold, the triumph of the Filipino youth is the triumph of the nation as a whole.
