Taguig police warn public on dangerous 'Tuklaw' cigarette
The Taguig police warned the public against using a cigarette locally known as “Tuklaw” that contains high levels of nicotine.
The warning was issued after an incident near an elementary school in Barangay Central Signal in Taguig last Aug. 1 where a man experienced seizure-like symptoms after smoking the cigarette that was given by two motorcycle riders.
Personnel from Taguig police’s Substation 6 and the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit assisted the victim who was taken to the Taguig District Hospital.
The police said the “incident underscores the serious danger of accepting cigarettes or any unknown substances from strangers, especially in public areas. The so-called ‘Tuklaw’ may contain harmful or illegal substances that can cause immediate and severe health effects, or worse, long-term psychological or physical harm.”
They urged the public to report any similar incidents or suspicious individuals.
