Marcos won't drop unverified names pending flood control mess probe—Palace

President Marcos will not reveal an unverified list of names linked in anomalous flood control projects while the investigation is underway.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Marcos has yet to name names involved in anomalous and non-existent flood control projects as he does not want to resort to threats.
"Unang-una po, hindi po gagayahin ng Pangulo ang anumang klase ng pagte-threaten lamang. Hindi po siya maglalabas ng anumang mga listahan na hindi verified. Kung nangyayari man 'to sa mga nakaraang administrasyon, hindi po gagawin ng Pangulo 'yan (First of all, the President will not resort to any form of mere threatening. He will not release any list that has not been verified. If this may have happened in past administrations, the President will not do that)," Castro said in a briefing in India on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
It came as a response to Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list Rep. Leila De Lima who urged Marcos to name and prosecute those involved in corruption-ridden flood control projects. She said the President should not just threaten with a re-enacted budget.
"Sinabi niya po ito to serve as a warning para po mas mapapaganda at mas maging transparent ang magiging budget sa 2026 (He said this to serve as a warning to help improve and make the 2026 budget more transparent)," Castro pointed out.
She reiterated that Marcos will not hastily drop names of individuals behind the flood control corruption and that the President is bent on holding these people accountable.
"So, kung ngayon po ay hindi pa po nakakapagbigay ng anumang pangalan dahil most probably hindi pa po tapos ang imbestigasyon (So, if names are yet to be revealed now, it's because most probably the investigation is not finished yet)," Castro further said.
Meanwhile, she urged the public to come forward and report any anomaly happening in their municipalities.
The Palace official also noted that the President is open to any investigation over reported anomalies, including on farm-to-market roads.
