The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that starting today, Aug. 6, and every Wednesday for the rest of the month, Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) rides will be free for passengers who brought their national IDs with them.
Free rides will be available on Wednesdays throughout August, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., provided that passengers present their national IDs, either in physical (card or paper) or digital form.
On Aug. 6, 13, 20, and 27 of this year, the PSA invites all national ID holders to avail themselves of the free rides.
The national ID is a valid proof of identification, regardless of its format, for both government and private transactions.
"For more information and updates on the national ID system, the public is encouraged to visit the official channels of the Philippine Statistics Authority: the National ID website; Facebook: @PSAPhilSysOfficial; X (formerly Twitter): @PSAPhilSys; and Viber: PSA: Philippine Identification System," the agency said.
