BUTUAN CITY – The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) on Wednesday announced the arrest of one of the suspects in the killing of Bislig City broadcaster Edwin Segovia.
SDSPPO Director Police Col. Jeffrey Lawrence Mauricio said the 40-year-old suspect is a farmer and a resident of Barangay Rajah Cabungsuan, Lingig, Surigao del Sur.
“The suspect was arrested during the service of two search warrants on Aug. 2 at his residence in Rajah Cabungsuan,” Mauricio said in a statement.
Radio WOW FM broadcaster Segovia, 63, was gunned down on July 21.
Seized from the suspect were two .45 caliber pistols, a fragmentation grenade, and ammunition.
The search warrants were issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 46 for violations of Republic Act Nos. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and 9516 or Illegal Possession of Firearms, Ammunition, or Explosives.
"The operation not only resulted in the arrest of a key suspect but also removed illegal firearms and an explosive from the streets, preventing potential harm,” Mauricio said. (PNA)
