Fogo de Chão, the internationally recognized Brazilian steakhouse, opens its first location in the Philippines on August 18 at Glorietta 4 in Makati. Known for its theatrical churrasco service and fire-grilled meats, the restaurant is now accepting reservations for its Manila debut.
The dining experience centers on churrasco, the traditional Brazilian style of roasting meat over an open flame. At Fogo de Chão, gaucho chefs bring the meats directly to each table, carving slices of signature picanha, filet mignon, ribeye, fraldinha, cordeiro and other cuts as requested. The servings are unlimited. As long as guests keep asking, the meats keep coming.
The experience also includes access to the Market Table, a seasonal spread of fresh salads, vegetables and Brazilian side dishes. One highlight is the feijoada, a black bean stew considered Brazil’s national dish. The full churrasco and Market Table offering starts at P3,200.
Those who prefer more customized dining can order a la carte options such as dry-aged steaks, Wagyu, seafood and other premium dishes. The menu is complemented by a curated selection of South American wines and handcrafted cocktails designed to pair with the grilled meats.
Founded in 1979 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Fogo de Chão has grown into a global brand with more than 70 locations. It is best known for honoring the gaucho tradition of cooking over open fire and for the interactive way the food is served.
The restaurant’s arrival in the Philippines is through The Bistro Group, which continues to expand its portfolio of international and chef-driven concepts. Since introducing TGI Fridays to Manila in 1994, the company has launched a number of global brands in the country including Morton’s The Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, Denny’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. It also operates boutique Spanish and Mediterranean restaurants under Bistronomia, and premium local concepts like Helm, Ember and Savage under the TBG Elite banner led by chef Josh Boutwood.
The arrival of Fogo de Chão signals something more than a new steakhouse in town. It brings a piece of Southern Brazil, served one carving at a time, for those who enjoy the ritual of meat, flame and appetite.
