DAVAO CITY – Acting Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II visited on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 5, fire victims in Purok 7, Barangay 8-A, a day after the blaze gutted down 18 houses and displaced 25 families.

Duterte distributed financial and relief aid, including food packs, to affected families, sheltered at the City High Annex Covered Court on F. Torres St.
The assistance from the Office of the Vice Mayor and the office of first district Rep. Paolo Duterte supports the affected families while recuperating from the incident.
“This is a show of support from our offices. We want you to know that you’re not alone during this difficult time,” Vice Mayor Duterte told the evacuees during the distribution.
He assured displaced families that assistance would continue beyond the initial response, encouraging them to reach out to his office for further needs.
Barangay 8-A Captain James Abadilla thanked the swift action of local officials.
Councilor Luna Marie Acosta helped distribute assistance, reinforcing the local government’s commitment to supporting affected communities.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection-11, the fire broke out on Aug. 4 at around 12:34 p.m. in a 600-quare meter residential area.
The fire reached the first alarm at 12:35 p.m. The fire was contained at 12:54 p.m. and fire out was declared at 1:33 p.m.
Multiple units responded, including BFP, Central 911 Fire Auxiliary Service, and volunteer groups Green DVFB, White FCFF, Barangay 8-A, and Raven.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries, fatalities, or missing persons were reported.
Abadilla said the quick response of emergency teams and the immediate support from local government leaders helped ease the impact of the fire on affected families.
