BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old student in Iligan City.
The suspect, the second most wanted person on the regional level, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 1, on warrants for two counts of statutory rape dated July 25 with no bail recommended.
Police said the suspect is reportedly the nephew of the victim’s stepfather.
The victim was first raped in February 2023 at the residence of the suspect who lives adjacent to the victim’s house. She was raped for the second time in July 2024.
Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joan G. Navarro said the abuses were only reported when the victim confided to her teacher who promptly notified authorities.
The suspect is under the custody of the Iligan City Police Station 3 for proper disposition.
PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon lauded operating units for arresting the suspect.
