The De La Salle Green Archers arrived in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with a mission of retaining their title in the 2025 World University Basketball Series.
The tournament fires off on Saturday, Aug. 9, until Aug. 11 at the Yoyogi National Stadium Second Gymnasium where the Green Archers are up against seven other teams including their archrival, UAAP reigning champions University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
It would be a great preview of sorts for both La Salle and UP, who remain as title favorites in the upcoming UAAP season despite losing some key players.
Expected to banner the Green Archers are Mike Phillips, Mason Amos, Keann Baclaan and Jacob Cortez.
Also joining the three-day joust are last year’s bridesmaid Korea University (South Korea), University of Sydney (Australia), Japan University Select Team, Nippon Sports Science University (Japan), National Chengchi University (Chinese Taipei), and The University of Hong Kong.
Last year, La Salle routed Korea University, 101-86, to capture the title. Then Green Archers standout Kevin Quiambao was adjudged as the tournament Most Valuable Player after posting 15.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
