Girl raped, killed by garbage collector in Quezon

LOPEZ, Quezon -- A young girl was allegedly raped and killed by a 19-year-old garbage collector while sleeping in Barangay Del Rosario, here, on Monday, Aug. 4.
The victim died from a stab wound to the chest by an eight-inch screwdriver.
The incident was discovered at about 1:30 a.m. by the victim’s sibling, who was sleeping beside her.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
The mother of the victim was in Manila, and her two children were staying at her friend’s home.
The suspect is a nephew of the home owner who also lives and sleeps at the same house.
Investigation said the suspect was intoxicated when he raped the victim.
Police arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation and the screwdriver was recovered at the crime scene.
The suspect is detained at the local police station and faces appropriate cases.
