The incident occurred around 10 a.m. and was traced to a food facility.
The leak caused a strong chemical odor to spread across the surrounding area, prompting concern among workers and nearby residents.
Personnel from the Caloocan Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM), along with several container van drivers stationed at the back of the facility, were among the first to be exposed to the fumes.
Residents living near the plant also reported symptoms such as eye irritation and difficulty breathing, forcing some to temporarily leave their homes.
Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Chief Dr. James Lao deployed ambulances and emergency personnel to assist those who were affected.
As of this writing, authorities are still investigating the cause and extent of the leak.
