San Juan gov't turns over 83 service vehicles to city offices
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora led the official blessing and ceremonial turnover of 83 new service vehicles to various departments and offices of the city government on Monday, Aug. 4.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, together with other city government officials, led the blessing and ceremonial turnover of 83 brand-new government service vehicles on Monday, Aug. 4.
During the ceremony, Zamora said the new vehicles are part of the city government's expanded vehicle refleeting program aimed at further boosting the capacities of its frontline units—particularly the barangays, the San Juan Police, essential departments, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO)—in delivering fast, efficient, and responsive public service.
The fleet includes:
- 42 vehicles for San Juan’s 21 barangays (one Toyota Hilux FX van and one Mitsubishi Triton pick-up per barangay) to be used to support barangay operations such as emergency response, peacekeeping patrols, community service logistics, and disaster preparedness activities
- 41 vehicles for city departments and special operations including Toyota Hilux 4x4 police patrol vehicles and a modified SWAT unit to enhance law enforcement visibility, mobility, and rapid response capacity across the city; a rescue and monitoring vehicle for the CDRRMO, enabling faster deployment during disasters and more efficient monitoring of high-risk areas; a 29-seater mini bus, Toyota Innovas, Hiace vans, LiteAce vans, pick-up trucks, and motorcycles to support general government services, logistical needs, and mobility of city and police personnel.
“These new vehicles are critical in enabling our city departments, barangays and the San Juan Police to deliver services faster, respond to emergencies more effectively, and bring the local government closer to every San Juaneño. This is a strong step forward in our vision for a modern, responsive, and service-oriented San Juan," Zamora said.
In May, the mayor said the city government is also processing the procurement of an aerial ladder fire truck which will be vital during fire emergencies in high-rise buildings.
It is also set to acquire a 32-seater electric vehicle and four 11-seater electric vehicles to support the city’s mobility and sustainability goals.
“Ito po ay ating gagawin upang mas makapaghandog ng maayos na serbisyo ang ating pamahalaang lungsod, kapulisan, bumbero, at mga barangay (This is being done to enable our city government, police, firefighters, and barangays to deliver faster and better public service),” he said.
