The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) rescued nine female victims, including two minors, and arrested five suspects during the anti-human trafficking operations in the city.
The operations, led by QCPD Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, were part of the intensified campaign to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals in the city.
The first operation happened around 2 a.m. in Barangay Holy Spirit after police received a tip about sex trafficking inside a store owned by a suspect known as “Angeline.”
During the entrapment operation, another suspect, “Rammil,” offered a minor to an informant for P1,500.
Police arrested both suspects and rescued five victims, including one minor.
Authorities later found that “Rammil” had a previous theft case in 2019.
In a separate inspection at a bar, police found that the establishment had no business permit and that its workers had no health clearances.
They arrested the manager, “Anthony,” and rescued four more women.
One of the rescued women told police that another woman, “Angel,” had forced her to have sex with a customer. “Angel,” who was first treated as a victim, was also arrested
Meanwhile, in another operation, Police Station 10 operatives arrested a 30-year-old man, “Jerome,” from Pangasinan.
He had contacted a 15-year-old girl through a messaging app and arranged to meet her at a hotel in Barangay Paligsahan in exchange for P1,000.
The girl reported the plan to the police before the meeting.
During the entrapment, police arrested the suspect at a convenience store near the hotel. It was later discovered that the suspect and the girl had met before in 2024 for the same reason.
All five suspects are facing charges for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act (RA 9208) and the law protecting children against abuse and exploitation (RA 7610).
The rescued victims were brought to the Quezon City Social Services Development Department (QCSSDD) for help and support.
Silvio said the operations were in line with Mayor Joy Belmonte’s anti-human trafficking campaign.
“This operation strongly supports the unwavering advocacy of Quezon City Mayor, Josefina ‘Joy’ Belmonte in combating human trafficking and protecting the rights and welfare of women and children. We will continue to intensify our operations and ensure that those who prey on the vulnerable are brought to justice. The safety of our youth and the integrity of our communities will always remain a top priority,” he said.
