The city government of Pasay conducted a cleaning and disinfection drive at the city’s public market to ensure cleanliness and public safety on Sunday, August 3.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the operation aimed to remove waste, unclog the drainage system, and disinfect the high-contact areas within the market premises.

Rubiano said the clean-up drive was part of the city’s ongoing public safety campaign to maintain hygiene in public spaces, especially in high-traffic areas like the public market.
She said that markets are one of the busiest areas and the city government wanted to make sure that vendors and market-goers are protected from possible health risks, especially with the rainy season increasing the risk of diseases.
The mayor also reminded all stall owners to regularly clean their areas and properly dispose of their waste to help keep the market clean and safe for everyone.
Rubiano said similar cleaning operations are scheduled to be conducted in other markets and public areas across the city.
