BAGUIO CITY – In a move to boost transparency and public access to information, the Baguio City Council has launched an “Online Archive” of all city ordinances and resolutions dating back to 1945.
Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan on Monday said the project, spearheaded by the council’s research division, is part of efforts to modernize public services and facilitate easier research, particularly in an era where misinformation is widespread.
“This initiative aligns with today’s digital systems and helps prevent the spread of misinformation by giving the public direct access to official documents,” Olowan said in a media interview.
Jordan Habbiling, information officer of the Baguio City Council, said “PDF versions of all local legislative measures from 1945 to the present are now available for download on the city’s official website https://citycouncil.baguio.gov.ph/.”
Although the archive is already live, Habbiling noted that the search function using keywords is still limited as encoding of titles is ongoing.
The project is a joint effort between the Management Information Technology Division under the Office of the Mayor and the Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Olowan.
City council sessions are also streamed live on the Public Information Office’s Facebook page to further promote civic engagement. (PNA)
