BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Greg Gasataya assured the public that all aspects of this year’s MassKara Festival – particularly financial transactions – will be carried out with full transparency.
In response to the city’s call for accountability, festival organizer Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., in a statement, pledged to manage resources wisely and ensure that the festival resonates with grassroots communities, especially those in barangays and underserved areas.
The 2025 MassKara Festival officially opens on Oct. 1, with its main highlights slated from Oct. 17 to 19.
Organizers are placing a greater emphasis on inclusivity this year, with events that spotlight the LGBTQ+ community, senior citizens, youth, and local artists.
Organizers will hold grand after party on Oct. 26 with live performances, DJs, and a relaxed community vibe.
Gasataya said the party is gesture of gratitude and a way to unwind after weeks of vibrant celebration.
The Street and Arena Dance Competition last held in 2019 is returning this year.
Festival Director Rodney Ascalon stressed the importance of representation. “MassKara has always been about unity in joy. This year, we are making a stronger effort to ensure that every sector is seen and celebrated,” he said.
Gasataya thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for granting him authority to sign the city’s contract with the official festival organizer. He emphasized that the city’s active participation will be reflected through the involvement of all SP members.
