NBA star Ja Morant brought the fireworks, the swagger and the dunks from Memphis to Manila, thrilling the Filipino fans in attendance at the Courtyard in BGC, Taguig for the final stop of his Make Them Watch tour.
The high-flying Grizzlies star was immediately treated to the traditional Filipino hospitality with the fans, wearing his jerseys and waving their Ja Morant collections and memorabilia as they gave the 25-year-old cager a warm welcome.
Morant even arrived at the venue, riding on a customized jeepney. He was at the sidelines of the exhibition game that featured professional players Jeron Teng, CJ Cansino, Ricci Rivero, Rhenz Abando, Jack Animam and Marga Jimenez along with selected players from the barangays around Makati, as well as members of the La Salle Zobel team.
All of them wore the Nike Ja 3 EP Light Show which Morant also promoted in the previous stops of his tour in Atlanta, New York, Japan and China.
“It’s been good. Everybody has been very welcoming and loving to me and my fam. I’m super excited to be here,” said Morant.
Of course, Morant reciprocated the love by putting on a show, treating the fans to two thunderous dunks – one off an alley-oop. He also joined in the dance performance during the break, showing off his signature ‘griddy’ celebration.
One lucky fan also had a birthday gift to remember from his idol as Morant gifted him with a signed brand new shoes during the event.
Another fan who had Morant's face tattooed on his back received the same shoes as well, and an autograph right next to his tattoo which he also intends to be inked.
