Full deck replacement and structural improvements will begin on August 9 on Dimasalang Bridge in Manila as part of its major rehabilitation, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Saturday, Aug. 2.
According to the DPWH-North Manila District Engineering Office, the southbound lanes of Dimasalang Bridge will be closed first to give way to construction activities.
During this period, the northbound lanes will temporarily accommodate two-way traffic to ensure continuous vehicle movement in the area.
The rehabilitation will cover retrofitting of piers and abutments, replacement of concrete girders with steel girders, and full redecking of the bridge slab to strengthen the structure and improve traffic flow.
“This project is part of our continuing effort to preserve vital road links and minimize long-term traffic disruptions,” the DPWH said, urging motorists to take alternate routes during the construction period.
Completion is targeted for December 15, 2025, with traffic advisories to be issued in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the City of Manila.
