A member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group and an elderly man were wounded when two motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire on the police officer at a car wash on Friday night, Aug. 1.
According to the initial police report, the incident happened at around 8 p.m. on Edison Street in Barangay San Isidro.
Witnesses said that the victim -- who was with his child and a friend -- was waiting for his vehicle to be washed when a man suddenly arrived and fired multiple shots at him, hitting him in different parts of the body. An elderly man was hit by a stray bullet in the waist during the assault.
The victim's friend returned fire at the gunman who escaped with his accomplice onboard a motorcycle.
Both victims were rushed to the hospital and are now in stable condition.
Investigators recovered around 15 cases of ammunition at the crime scene.
A manhunt operation was launched for the suspects.
