QCPD distributes drones, cellphones to boost field operations
As part of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Modernization Program, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) distributed drones and mobile phones to its police stations and field units on Friday, August 1.
QCPD Director for Administration and Officer-in-Charge Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio led the turnover of 17 drone units and 32 mobile phones with SIM cards, allocated for 16 police stations and the District Mobile Force Battalion.
The drones will be utilized to strengthen patrol operations and enhance situational awareness through aerial surveillance.
Their deployment is expected to play a key role in police operations, emergency response, and crowd monitoring during large public gatherings.
To ensure the effective and responsible use of the drones, QCPD will conduct a five-day Tactical Drone Operators Training from August 4 to 8.
Meanwhile, the cellular phones are intended to boost real-time communication and monitoring capabilities of patrollers in the field.
The upgrade aims to improve coordination and enable faster incident response.
“Ang hakbanging ito ay malinaw na patunay ng pagsusumikap ng QCPD na maghatid ng makabago, episyente, at responsableng serbisyo para sa mas maagap at epektibong pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng publiko (This initiative is a clear testament to QCPD's efforts to deliver innovative, efficient and responsible services for a more prompt and effective response to the needs of the public),” Silvio said.
