23 families lose homes in Tacloban fire

TACLOBAN CITY – Twenty-three families lost their homes in a fire that destroyed 21 houses in Barangay 97, Cabawalan, this city, on Thursday, July 31.
Initial investigation disclosed that the fire originated from unattended cooking in the kitchen of one of the houses.
The fire immediately spread to neighboring houses made of light materials and was declared out at around 12:34 p.m. with no reported casualties.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing and damage to property is yet to be determined.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office has distributed food packs, utensils, hygiene kits, and sleeping gear to victims.
CSWDO head Fe Chona Bahin shared that they have recommended providing financial assistance to the victims.
