The Binangonan Municipal Police Station said the incident was reported around 10:06 p.m. by a fish vendor from Barangay Pila-Pila, who witnessed the incident.
According to the witness, she saw the woman vomiting near the wharf before she quietly walked toward the lake and leapt into the water.
She immediately sought help from her fellow vendors and members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) stationed nearby.
The PCG immediately launched a rescue operation, but was forced to suspend the search due to bad weather conditions.
The search resumed at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, where the woman’s body was recovered from the lake.
Authorities described the victim as being between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 4’10” to 5’1” tall, with shoulder-length curly hair. She was wearing a yellow shirt and black-and-white shorts.
The vendor told the police that the woman had been seen in the area for about four days before the incident and was believed to have exhibited signs of mental illness.
As of this writing, the victim’s identity remains unknown.
Authorities are calling on anyone who may know the victim or have relevant information to contact the Binangonan police.
