President Marcos will embark on a five-day State Visit to India from Aug. 4 to 8, 2025, upon the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Malacañang announced Thursday, July 31.

In a joint advisory from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Marcos will hold official meetings and events in New Delhi before proceeding to Bangalore.
The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India in 2025.
While in New Delhi, Marcos will meet with key Indian officials and members of the business community. He will also hold a separate meet-and-greet with the Filipino community in the capital.
From New Delhi, the President and his delegation will travel to Bangalore, where further engagements with the business sector are scheduled.
The Palace said Marcos will "meet with the business sectors in both cities" as part of efforts to strengthen economic and bilateral ties.
Indian media reported that President Marcos is set to speak about Manila and New Delhi as “partners for a rules-based order” at an event organized by a think tank on Aug. 6.
Marcos’ upcoming State Visit to India is the first by a Philippine president in nearly two decades. The last was by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in October 2007.
In 2019, India reciprocated with a State Visit by then-President Ram Nath Kovind, highlighting efforts to deepen cooperation in defense, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Marcos and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met briefly on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India Summit in Laos in October 2024.
Marcos’ visit to India likewise coincides with the Philippines and India’s first bilateral maritime cooperative activity near the Scarborough Shoal. India has openly expressed its support for the Philippines in the issue of South China Sea dispute.
