Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said the seminar was held for individuals apprehended for illegal dumping and improper waste disposal within the city.
Topics discussed during the seminar included strict enforcement of waste segregation at the source, proper disposal and handling of solid waste, individual accountability in maintaining clean surroundings, and adherence to environmental regulations under R.A. 9003.
Aguilar emphasized that the city has existing ordinances and programs focused on proper waste management, particularly on waste segregation and disposal.
She noted that the city actively enforces Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and holds environmental seminars for violators.
The mayor added that Las Piñas has a system for regular garbage collection, with designated schedules and locations for waste disposal.
Aguilar urged residents to cooperate and take part in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Las Piñas.
