A fireman carries the rescued dog to safety after being trapped in a creek in Makati City
A dog that was found trapped along the creek of San Jose in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City, was rescued by firemen from the Bureau of Fire Protection Makati (BFP-Makati) on Wednesday, July 30, earning praise from the public and the city government.
According to the BFP-Makati, residents reported a weakened brown dog trapped in the waterway. The firemen promptly responded and recovered the dog.
“This incident highlights the dedication of BFP-Makati duty operations personnel in responding not only to fire emergencies but also to situations involving animal rescue and community assistance," the BFP-Makati said.
The firemen's act was also lauded by Makati Mayor Nancy Binay and the city government.
“This successful operation exemplifies their commitment not only to fire and emergency response, but also to upholding Makati's Animal Welfare Code—ensuring the protection and humane treatment of all animals in our community," Binay said.
“Mabuhay kayo, BFP-Makati! Sa inyong malasakit, buhay ang inyong binibigyang halaga—tao man o hayop (Long live, BFP-Makati! In your concern, you value life—whether human or animal)," she added.
