During the celebration of the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Wednesday night, July 30, the envoy stressed China’s commitment to defend the outcomes of the second world war and uphold an international order centered on the UN.
“We must firmly uphold the authority and central role of the United Nations in international affairs...We must work together to safeguard the hard-won achievements of World War 2 and strongly oppose any attempt to distort historical truth,” he said.
“We remain committed to upholding the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order grounded in international law, and a rules-based multilateral trading system. Only through strengthened solidarity and cooperation can we effectively rise to meet the global challenges of our time,” the ambassador added.
Huang urged that the One-China Policy be upheld and to “oppose any separatist activities” because “Taiwan's return to China was a key outcome of the victory in World War 2.”
Noting that the world is facing “profound changes unseen in a century” and “widening deficits in peace, development, security, and governance,” the envoy shared that Chinese President Xi Jinping launched the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative to build a community of shared future and to contribute to a more prosperous and secure world.
In a Facebook post, Huang emphasized PLA’s commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, while also contributing to global peace and security.
He also commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and noted how the Philippines and China stood in solidarity during World War 2.
