The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued an advance Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) over possible hazards after a recent China's rocket launch.
CAAP spokesperson Bea Bernardo said that based on the tracking data, unburned rocket debris was projected to fall within two areas of the Philippine territory: one approximately 120 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and the other one about 42 nautical miles from Zamboanga City.
To ensure airspace safety, the CAAP issued an advance NOTAM that will take from 6;14 p.m. to 6:42 p.m. on Aug. 4. covering an area 40 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Princesa Airport, from surface level to unlimited altitude, Bernardo said.
The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) earlier confirmed that China launched the Long March 8A rocket from the Hainan Commercial Launch Site in Wenchang.
"CAAP continues to take proactive measures in monitoring foreign aerospace activities and issuing timely advisories to protect aviation operations," Bernardo said.
"CAAP also advises airlines and pilots to avoid the designated area and to take precautionary measures during the specified time," it added.
