POLILLO, Quezon - Twenty-three individuals were rescued after their motor banca capsized near Balesin Island here on Wednesday morning, July 30.
Police said FBCA King departed Balesin Island to Mauban and Atimonan in Quezon with 22 passengers and the captain.
Two hours later, passengers gathered on the port side while waves crashed on the boat, and, as a result, the vessel lost balance and capsized.
Passengers were all residents of Barangay Balesin here and rescued by the rescue team of Alphaland after they received information about the incident.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station Polillo issued an Enforcement Inspection Apprehension Report to boat captain Regino Lanoza for violating the PCG MC 07-12 (PDI) by departing without PCG clearance and carrying unauthorized passengers and instructed him to appear at the headquarters of Coast Guard Northern Quezon for adjudication.
