Truck crashes into electric post, causes power outage in Marikina

A truck driver was injured after his vehicle crashed into an electric post due to alleged brake failure in Barangay Marikina Heights, Marikina, on Wednesday morning, July 30.

The Marikina City Rescue 161 said the driver sustained cuts and bruises.

Due to the impact, the electric post was broken in the middle, causing the upper part to fall onto the truck. The truck also hit some parked vehicles along Tanguile Street in front of La Milagrosa Village.

The incident reportedly caused power outages in nearby areas.

As of around 11 a.m., the city rescue team said Meralco personnel were already on-site to repair the damaged post. Authorities are also conducting an investigation.

Meanwhile, it reminded the public to always ensure that a vehicle is in safe condition before operating it to avoid accidents.
