House Speaker Martin Romualdez humbly welcomed on Wednesday, July 30 the results of the OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa second-quarter 2025 survey, which indicated an increase in the official's trust and performance ratings.
Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district congressman, credited the ratings bump to the institution he belonged to.
“I welcome the results of the latest OCTA Tugon ng Masa survey with gratitude and a clear sense of responsibility. The increase in both my trust rating and performance rating is an encouraging sign that the reforms we’ve been working on in the House of Representatives--particularly on transparency, budget integrity, and service delivery--are gaining public support,” Romualdez said in a statement Wednesday, July 30.
“These gains are broad-based, cutting across all major regions and socioeconomic groups. That tells me one thing: people are paying attention. They want honest leadership and tangible results,” he noted.
The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president vowed to remain focused on his job and to work without fanfare.
“We will continue to work quietly but decisively. There is still much to be done to ensure that public funds are spent efficiently, that infrastructure projects are free from corruption, and that basic services reach those who need them most,” Romualdez said.
“This is not a victory lap. It’s a reminder to stay focused, stay grounded, and stay accountable,” he said.
The House leader and President Marcos are the only two government officials to post gains in both trust and performance ratings based on the latest OCTA poll.
The poll showed that the President’s trust level rose by 4 percentage points to 64 percent, while his performance rating inched up by 3 percentage points to 62 percent.
The Speaker's ratings followed a similar upward trajectory as those of President Marcos. Romualdez ’s trust level jumped by 3 percentage points to 57 percent nationwide, while his performance rating climbed by 4 points to 59 percent.
According to OCTA, the Speaker’s ratings improvements “are particularly significant as they were broad-based, with gains recorded across all major regions and socioeconomic classes".
