A Korean national was arrested after allegedly swindling P1,000,000 off his compatriot on July 28.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspect as Minsu Kim, 33, and temporarily residing in Parañaque City.
De Sesto said the victim, identified as Begeon Kim, personally appeared at the Pasay City Police Substation 9 and filed a complaint against the suspect.
Begeon said that he first met Minsu after agreeing to exchange P200,000 to 6,000,000 Korean Won with him, which was deposited to his account.
The victim and the suspect agreed to meet again for another transaction of exchanging P1,000,000 into Korean Won.
The city police chief said the victim claimed that during their second meet-up, Minsu distracted him while his cohort, who was then the counting the money, suddenly disappeared.
This prompted him to apprehend the suspect and bring him to the police station.
The suspect was detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility after the arrest and is now facing swindling through estafa charges.
