The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has delivered more than P771 million worth of humanitarian aid to families affected by recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
As of 4 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, the agency had dispatched over 1.1 million family food packs to communities across 18 regions affected by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the enhanced habagat.
The assistance also includes hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and financial aid through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation and “Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita” programs.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the department continues to work closely with local government units to ensure timely distribution of relief items.
She emphasized that personnel from all DSWD field offices remain on the ground to assist in logistics and coordination.
Overall, more than two million families have received assistance since the coordinated response.
In addition to material aid, DSWD is also conducting psychosocial support sessions in evacuation centers, particularly for displaced children, women, and other vulnerable groups.
Dumlao said these efforts are part of the agency’s commitment to holistic disaster response and recovery.
The agency said it will continue dispatching relief supplies in the coming days, in response to requests for augmentation from various local government units still dealing with the aftermath of the storms.
