Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone was so impressed with Quentin Millora-Brown that he admitted that he would love to have him if there’s an opportunity to tap him as part of the national team’s local crew.
The 6-foot-10 University of the Philippines standout, however, could only play with Gilas as its naturalized player – a spot that is already taken by Justin Brownlee.
“He's awesome, man. I'd love to have him. I'd love to have him, man. He is physical. He gets to the offensive boards real well. And he lands, you know, great size. But it's not there yet,” said Cone.
Millora-Brown finished with six points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block as a starter for the Macau Black Bears who conceded a 98-103 loss to Gilas
“I mean, I can dream and wish. I dream we had Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, you know, that's not possible either. So if I had an opportunity, man, I would love to have QMB on the team,” added Cone.
Millora-Brown, though, isn’t completely giving up on his dream of donning the Gilas jersey just yet, revealing that his camp is actually in the middle of filing an appeal to FIBA to consider him as a local.
“We're just hopeful that the appeal will go through and that I'll be changed from naturalized to local. There's an appeal in the works. The lawyers and my agent are kind of taking care of that,” said Millora-Brown.
Right now, all Gilas and Millora-Brown can do is wait and pray for a favorable decision.
‘It would be amazing to be able to (be part of Gilas). There's so much respect for all of those guys. And absolutely, just the ability to play for your country is amazing. So if that comes up, there's no way I could turn it down,” he added.
