LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Buguey in Cagayan province is on alert for a tsunami generated by an 8.8-earthquake in the Russian Far East on Wednesday.

The MDRRMO has coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard for a preemptive evacuation of residents living near the coastline.
The municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC), rescue teams, ambulances, and coordination lines with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and maritime authorities have been activated.
The local government reminded residents to remain calm, stay informed, and follow official updates from them.
Also conducting preemptive evacuation in Cagayan were
several district hospitals near coastal areas – Aparri Provincial Hospital, Santa Ana Community Hospital, Alfonso Ponce Enrile Memorial District Hospital in Gonzaga, and Ballesteros District Hospital.Patients from Ballesteros District Hospital were temporarily moved to the Cagayan Breeding Station in Ballesteros.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rebecca Battung has instructed chiefs of hospitals, especially those in coastal areas, to coordinate with MDRRMOs in the evacuation.
Other hospitals in the province were alerted to enable to them to respond to the tsunami.
