Significant rainfall to persist in western Luzon due to 'habagat' — PAGASA
The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring significant rainfall over parts of western Luzon in the next two days, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, July 29.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said that on Tuesday, occasional rains are expected over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan.
She noted that rain is expected to persist for most of the day, with intermittent periods of moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas.
Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may also affect Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.
Torres advised the public to remain vigilant for possible flash floods and landslides.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
By Wednesday, July 30, the habagat will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
Light to moderate rains with occasional heavy precipitation may also persist in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, the rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.
From Thursday to Saturday, July 31 to Aug. 2, Torres said rainfall is expected to gradually ease, although the habagat will still bring light to moderate rains with occasional heavy precipitation over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Bataan, Zambales, Metro Manila, Cavite, and Batangas.
The rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
