Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos' right-hand man in the Committee on Rules is one of the House prosecutors in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment case.
Elected as senior deputy majority leader during plenary session Tuesday night, July 29 was Iloilo 3rd district Rep. Lorenz Defensor.
It was last Feb. 5 when Defensor was named part of the 11-man protection team in Duterte's case. The House of Representatives transmitted to the Senate the articles of impeachment against Duterte that same day.
Defensor is rhe son of former Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Cosette Rivera.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the same university.
Defensor obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Santo Tomas and passed the Philippine Bar Examination in 2004.
He is on his third and final term as a congressman.
