ILOILO CITY — Rep. Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda of Iloilo City is pleased by the fourth State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“(He) addressed most, if not all, of the concerns close to our hearts,” said Baronda, who was able to get a selfie with the President after the SONA on Monday, July 28.
Baronda lauded Marcos for pushing for accountability from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on substandard infrastructure projects as well as assessment of flood control projects.
“You know that if you have nothing to hide and do not engage in graft, you would welcome this type of anti-corruption measure. Accountability in infrastructure is a welcome development,” said Baronda in a statement.
Baronda also welcomed the order of Marcos for the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA)
to strengthen its crackdown on water distributors and joint venture partners as six million consumers are affected by water interruptions.“We have the same problem in Iloilo City when it comes to water supply,” noted Baronda.
She lauded the President’s plan for more evacuation centers, job generation, education, and mental health.
“I wish his administration can build on what has been accomplished in the next three years,” Baronda added.
