ECOP to tackle green, digital, social transitions at 46th Conference
The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) is holding its 46th National Conference of Employers on July 29-30, 2025, at the Manila Hotel, to address the critical “triple transitions” encompassing green, digital, and social aspects for a sustainable future.
The conference, which coincides with ECOP’s 50th anniversary, aims to facilitate discussions among various stakeholders on navigating these significant global shifts.
ECOP President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. noted, “As we celebrate ECOP’s 50 years of relevance in nation-building, let us not forget the enormous challenges and multiple crises that the whole world is grappling with.”
He added, “In the Philippines, ECOP will always be at the forefront, together with government, in the fight for social inclusion where no one should be left behind – leading the employers in the transformation for a sustainable future.”
The event will commence with a keynote address by DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan. This will be followed by three panel discussions featuring CEOs, key officials from public and private organizations, and academia representatives.
Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma will also deliver a keynote address.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. is expected to give a keynote speech during the Gala celebration of ECOP’s 50th anniversary, where organizations and individuals will be recognized for their contributions to nation-building.
The Kapatiran sa Industriya or KAPATID Awards will also be presented to companies excelling in industrial peace, ethical business conduct, innovation for just transition, and business continuity and sustainability.
The conference's focus on "triple transitions" stems from the global recognition of interconnected challenges such as environmental sustainability, poverty, inequality, and the rapid pace of technological advancements.
These transitions involve shifting to sustainable production and consumption (green), managing the impact of technology and AI (digital), and ensuring social inclusion and addressing inequality (social). The urgency of these transitions has been highlighted by events like the Covid-19 pandemic, which exposed a "poly-crisis" scenario.
ECOP emphasized the need for integrated systemic approaches, close dialogue between the public and private sectors, reliable baseline data, and the mobilization of financial resources to successfully navigate these transitions.
