Two female drug peddlers, believed to be involved in the bulk distribution of shabu in Balagtas and nearby towns, were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bulacan on Monday, July 28.
The chief of PDEA-Bulacan identified the suspects as alias "Rosa," 44, and alias "Tere," 65.
Authorities are still determining the exact value of the illegal drugs contained in three transparent plastic sachets seized from the suspects. Also recovered was the marked money used by the undercover PDEA agent.
According to PDEA, the suspects are considered high-value targets (HVTs) and had been under surveillance since the first week of July.
Col. Angel Garcillano, acting Bulacan police director, said the confiscated drugs would be forwarded to the PDEA Regional Office III laboratory for examination.
The operation was carried out by agents of the PDEA Bulacan Provincial Office, the Bulacan PPO–Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and the Balagtas Police Station.
A non-bailable case will be filed against the suspects for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) in relation to Section 26(b) (Conspiracy to Sell Drugs) of Republic Act 9165.
