VITRO Inc., the data center arm of telecommunications giant PLDT Inc., announced that all its flagship data centers have secured Rated-3 certifications, a significant step in its pursuit of making the Philippines a major digital hub.
In a statement, VITRO said its 11 data centers have all received recognition for design and facility under the TIA-942 global standard set by the American industry group Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
“These milestones go beyond design validation—they demonstrate VITRO’s long-standing leadership in building and operating world-class data centers at scale,” said VITRO Inc. and ePLDT President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Victor Genuino.
According to the TIA, a Rated-3 data center is designed to be concurrently maintainable, meaning it has sufficient redundant systems that allow for planned maintenance or equipment replacement without disrupting operations, even in the event of natural disasters.
VITRO’s most advanced data center to date is located in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the country’s first hyperscale data center built for artificial intelligence (AI).
VITRO Santa Rosa, which has held its TIA-942 Rated-3 design certification since 2023, has the capacity to meet the highest standards under Rated-4.
With a total power capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) and over 4,500 racks, the facility was designed to meet the data needs of large technology companies.
“[VITRO Santa Rosa] is where cloud and AI converge, giving enterprises an optimal environment where they can grow and innovate in the AI era,” said Genuino.
Aside from being optimized for uninterrupted operations, VITRO Santa Rosa offers clients network diversity through its carrier-neutral feature with access to seven major telcos and carriers.
The facility hosts the country’s first NVIDIA-powered GPU servers, positioning ePLDT as a trusted AI enabler of local enterprises. VITRO is a wholly owned subsidiary of ePLDT, which is in turn a subsidiary of PLDT.
PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said it is the company’s goal to position the country as a digital and AI innovation hub.
“With VITRO Santa Rosa and our broader data center ecosystem, we are building the infrastructure backbone needed to power industries, accelerate AI adoption, and drive long-term national progress,” he said.
Pangilinan said in April that his company intends to expand its data center capacity up to 500 MW, which is roughly equal to the capacity of Malaysia.
VITRO Santa Rosa is fully integrated into the country’s domestic fiber network and connected globally via international subsea cable systems, including Jupiter, Asia Direct Cable, and the upcoming Apricot.
