BUTUAN CITY – Authorities are considering two individuals as "persons of interest" as they continue their investigation into the killing of broadcaster Edwin Labtad Segovia in Surigao del Sur.
During a Monday briefing, Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, director of Police Regional Office-13, said this development stemmed from an investigation by Task Force Segovia, which was formed earlier by the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office.
“Our police investigators have exerted every effort in pursuing the case by conducting extensive backtracking and reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from various establishments near and around the crime scene and along the possible escape routes,” Abrahano said.
Segovia was shot and killed on the morning of July 21 in Barangay Mangagoy, Bislig City. Initial investigation indicated that Segovia was on his way home after his radio program at WOW FM station when two gunmen shot him.
“Based on the evidence gathered, combining statements from the victim’s family, colleagues, and eyewitnesses, our investigators have identified two persons of interest in connection with the incident,” Abrahano said.
He expressed high hopes of resolving the case with positive outcomes from the ongoing investigation. (PNA)
