Police: 10 PDLs escape from Batangas jail

8 rearrested in manhunt

IBAAN, Batangas – Police reported that 10 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) escaped from the Batangas Provincial Jail here on Monday morning, July 28.
The Police Regional Office 4-A confirmed the escape around 10 a.m.
Investigation said a prison guard was escorting PDLs to the public utility room when one of them pointed an ice pick on him and disarmed him.
Ten prisoners fled
on foot towards Barangay Quilo, this town.
Eight escapees were recaptured in a pursuit operation using drones.
Three escapees were arrested in a vacant lot in Ibaan.
Five were apprehended onboard a bus at the STAR Tollway.
They are in custody and will face charges related to their escape and previous offenses.
Two remaining PDLs are still at large.
Police said manhunt will continue until all escapees are rounded up and urged people with information on the remaining fugitives to contact authorities.
