TNT might have fallen short of completing a Grand Slam after losing to San Miguel in the Philippine Cup finals but its double-barrel weapon in close pals RR Pogoy and Calvin Oftana remained grateful for the moment.

Pogoy and Oftana did everything they could but conceded that the Beermen were simply the better team this time.

Playing through their respective injuries not only in the finals but for the entire playoffs, the duo had no regrets and was still proud of what TNT had accomplished this season.

“Grateful pa rin kami this season, ayaw pa ba namin yun na nakadalawang champion kami,” said Pogoy who, along with Oftana, was still all smiles after emerging from the TNT dugout after the 106-97 loss to SMB in Game 6.

“Sabi nga namin ni Roger sa lahat ng mga nangyari sa amin, 0-3 sa simula ng conference, kinalaban pa namin twice-to-beat, on the run, daming injury. Pero yung nga, it's still a blessing for us. 2 out of 3 this season,” echoed Oftana.

Of course, it was still a huge letdown missing a piece of history but it is what it is for the two.

“Sayang nga lang talaga. Grand Slam. Pero yun ang panahon e, parang injury ang dami. So ganoon talaga yung buhay, minsan sa'yo, minsan hindi din,” said Pogoy.

“Hats off to San Miguel talaga. They deserve it, talagang gusto nila. Lahat ng tira nila pumapasok ngayon. Sabi ko nga kanina, hats off na ako. Kahit anong tapon ni Brondial, pasok pa rin,” Oftana pointed out.

“Yung mga ganoon bagay, wala kang masasabi doon. So proud pa rin ako, proud pa rin ako sa team namin,“ he added.

For now, the two want to make their sweet time recovering from their injuries, especially for Pogoy, who actually played through a hamstring tear.

“Pinilit ko na lang talaga. dapat 4 to 6 weeks ang pahinga. Pero 2 weeks lang, nilaro ko na kaagad. So talagang ano talaga, parang bahala na. Kasi finals, sayang e. Pero sa laro talaga, talagang ika-ika,“ said Pogoy.
