'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' tops weekend box office in Korea; No. 1 daily since opening

The fantasy movie “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” continued to dominate the box office in South Korea. 

The movie is headlined by Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, Jisoo, Nana, Chae Soo-Bin, Shin Seung-Ho, Park Ho-San and Choi Young-Joon. 

“The Prophet: Omniscient Reader” is about a novel that has been serialized for over 10 years but on the day that it ends, the world within the novel becomes a reality. 

“Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” grabbed the No. 1 spot on the weekend box office in South Korea.

According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” topped the Korean weekend box office from July 25 to 27.

During the three-day period, it recorded 427,362 in total admissions and gross of P$3.22 million for a 24.44 percent revenue share.  

Since its opening on July 23, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” has topped the daily box office in South Korea, holding off the challenge posed by “F1” and “The Fantastic Four: First Step.” 

From July 23 to 27, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” has garnered 627,890 in total admissions and grossed $4.56 million in South Korea. 

At the weekend box office in South Korea, “F1” placed second with 340,240 in total admissions and gross of $2.7 million followed by “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” with 269,097 in total admissions and gross of $2.23 million. 

“Superman” fell to ninth place with 27,162 in total admissions and gross of $206,686. Since its opening on July 9, “Superman” managed to attract 841,256 moviegoers and gross $6.16 million.
