President Marcos wants more space for Filipinos to exercise, so he asked the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to open its track and field ovals in the cities of Pasig, Baguio, and Manila to the public.

In his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), Marcos said the games, tournaments, fun runs, aerobics, and zumba sessions should be conducted more often in order to promote a healthy lifestyle.
In support of this, starting today, the Philippine Sports Commission will open their track and field ovals in Pasig, Manila, and Baguio to the public, so you can go jogging for free)," Marcos said.
The President also urged local government units (LGUs) to implement more car-free Sundays, replicating programs in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao.
He also encouraged the LGUs to open up and make parks and plazas more inviting, so that citizens—young and old—can have a place to exercise.
Full support for athletes
Marcos vowed to give full support to Filipino athletes and conveyed his plans to establish a new national program for sports development, which will start in schools.
Halimbawa, ang Palarong Pambansa, at ang Batang Pinoy Games na gaganapin sa General Santos City ngayong Oktubre (We will pour our full support into sports and athletes across the country. For example, the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy Games, which will be held in General Santos City this October)," he said.
We will establish a new national program for sports development. We will start this right in schools. We will bring back sports clubs and hold games and intramurals in all public schools)," he added.
Because of such programs, Marcos said, many Filipino athletes were able to bring honor to the country, who also serve as an inspiration to young Filipino athletes.
Because of these efforts, our youth are introduced to sports at an early age, develop their skills, and gain confidence. They follow in the footsteps of our champions and world-class athletes—like Senator Manny Pacquiao, Hidilyn Diaz, Caloy Yulo, Aira Villegas, Nesthy Petecio, EJ Obiena, and Alex Eala; and our Paralympians Jerrold Mangliwan, Cendy Asusano, Angel Mae Otom, and Ernie Gawilan)," Marcos said.
The President also mentioned Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre, who won by default in a charity boxing match against Davao City acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila on Sunday, July 27.
"Isama na rin natin yung bago nating kampeon si PNP Chief Nic Torre (Let’s also include our new champion, PNP Chief Nic Torre)," Marcos said which earned cheers and applause from the attendees.
"At siyempre, pati pa ang ating kampeon sa Asian Winter Games- Philippine Men's Curling Team (And of course, let’s not forget our champions in the Asian Winter Games—the Philippine Men's Curling Team)," he added.
