ILOILO CITY – Majority of lawmakers from the province and city of Iloilo voted to reelect Leyte first district Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 20th Congress.

Voting in favor of Romualdez were Reps. Janette Loreto-Garin of the Iloilo first district, Kathryn Joyce Fermin-Gorriceta of the Iloilo second district, Lorenz “Noy” Defensor of the Iloilo third district, Ferjenel “Ferj” Biron of the Iloilo fourth district, Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda of the lone district of Iloilo City, and James “Jojo” Ang Jr. of USWAG party-list.
Only Rep. Binky Binky Montesclaros-Tupas of the fifth district of Iloilo did not vote for Romualdez.
She did not appear when her name was called. It was unclear if she was absent during the roll call when the 20th Congress opened on Monday, July 28.
Garin and Biron were elected deputy speakers.
