- Senator Risa Hontiveros has announced she will remain with the Senate minority bloc in the 20th Congress.
Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday, July 28 said she has decided to remain with the Senate minority bloc in the 20th Congress.
In a press conference before the opening of the First Regular Session of the 20th Congress, Hontiveros said she will be joining the minority bloc again.
“My original plan of forming an independent bloc will no longer push through. I will be part of the minority,” Hontiveros told reporters when asked about her plan.
Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri earlier floated the possibility of veteran senators, including him and Sen. Vicente Sotto III of forming the minority bloc, together with senators Loren Legarda and Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
Zubiri’s group has been pushing for Sotto to be the Senate President in the 20th Congress, replacing Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
