Alas Pilipinas seeks improvement as the team plunges into action in the 2025 Southeast Asia (SEA) Women’s V.League in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand starting Friday, Aug. 1.
The Nationals recently held a practice where the likes of Bella Belen, Thea Gagate, libero Jen Nierva, and setter Mars Alba alongside collegiate standouts Cla Loresco and Shai Nitura were seen in sweating it out through a social media post of Alas Pilipinas Volley.
Also present in the video were veterans in skipper Jia De Guzman and seasoned defensive specialist Dawn Catindig.
Though there is no final lineup for coach Jorge de Brito as of now, it is expected that Alas’ roster will be disclosed in the coming days as Leg 1 begins Friday until Sunday, Aug. 3.
Meanwhile, the second leg is slated from Aug. 8 to 10 in Ninh Bình, Vietnam with the Philippine gunning for a podium against the regional powerhouse squads in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Last year, Alas Pilipinas plucked the bronze medal with a 1-2 win-loss record in both legs. There, De Guzman and Gagate were named as Best Setter and Best Middle Blocker, respectively, in the first part of the meet, while Solomon bagged the Best Opposite Spiker on the closing day.
Earlier this month, Alas Pilipinas fell short on a podium finish after it succumbed to Chinese Taipei, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22, in their battle-for-third match in the 2025 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup in Vietnam.
